What brought you to Hymers College?
My daughter Rachel saw the vacancy for a Caretaker at Hymers College advertised in the local press. She encouraged me to apply for the job and here I am, all thanks to my daughter.
What did you do before joining?
I’ve had a number of jobs which I will list: Paperboy, Child Television Actor, Carpenter, Police Officer.
If you had to describe yourself in 3 words, what would they be?
Honest, Loyal, Happy.
What frightens you the most?
My wife.
If you could only have three songs on your iPod, what would they be?
• ‘Piano Man’ by Billy Joel.
• ‘Suzanne’ by Leonard Cohen. • ‘My Way’ by Frank Sinatra.
Who or what makes you laugh?
My neighbour Melvyn is the funniest person I have ever met.
Where in the world would you visit and why?
I would visit my ancestral home of Waterford in the Republic of Ireland.
What is your favourite film?
‘Training Day’ with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke because it reminds me of my time working as a
Rookie Detective.
If you could have dinner with anyone past or present, who would it be and why?
Muhammad Ali, because in my opinion he’s the greatest Boxer of all time and had a very interesting life.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Not to forget my Wedding Anniversary.
If you were an animal, what would you be?
A swan.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I enjoy a glass of chilled Ginger Beer.
