The annual Hull and East Riding Health Expo took place on Thursday 5th July at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel on Ferensway, Hull.
It was held to coincide with the 70th anniversary of
the NHS. Organised by local NHS and health providers from across the region, the event celebrated the health service journey since 1948, highlighting some of the amazing advances in local health care and technology, and served to thank the people who make the NHS the success story it is today.
Students met health experts face to face, asked questions, gained valuable advice, and found out
about support available in the local area. The more adventurous students (most of them!) took part in games and activities to get the blood pumping and test their clinical skills.
The highlight of the 2018 event was a special archive display of old photographs, health artefacts and memorabilia from years gone by.
The school’s annual Careers Convention brought together local and national organisations to give advice and guidance to students in Years 11-13.
With around 50 organisations taking part, the evening

Dr Chris Chase, Pathology training manager at HEY Hospitals NHS Trust, gave a fascinating presentation to students along with an entertaining quiz on a selection of tissue types.
