The Senior Band, Red Sky, gave a rousing performance of a Soul Medley based on Tainted Love and Hit the Road Jack, then later a large choir of well over one hundred students, and a few staff, sang the first part of World In Union before being joined by the rest of the school.
Bohan Sun played Chopin’s Nocturne in C# Minor very sensitively to set the reverent mood and then later in the service Jimmy Thomas played The Last Post as perfectly as ever.
Our very own Pietro Lusvardi spearheaded an amazing evening of spell-binding Double Bass, playing in the first of our Hymers Recital Series, raising £133.50 for the School’s chosen charities.
At the end of the academic year Andrew Penny retired from his full time post at Hymers and I thought it would be nice to feature him in our Summer Hymers Recital concert. It was a wonderful evening, which ended up not only featuring Andrew on the Clarinet but also his daughter Sarah (Voice) and wife Helga (Viola), all coming together to perform as a family in the final item. The evening raised £195.43 for the School’s chosen charities.
Mr L Bartlett
A full programme of open rehearsals and trial lessons was ongoing for the whole morning. A lot of potential students and their parents came through the department and they were all very impressed with our facilities and all we offer budding musicians at Hymers. I 151
